In this world of agents that will have access and control your home devices does the Matter standard continue to play an important role? What if any device can simply document its APIs and agents will take care of the rest?
Actually, Matter is the place where manufacturers commit to the smallest set of features to simply obtain their badge for marketing reasons.
APIs that don’t follow Matter can provide more functionality and be iterated on faster.
Working in the IoT space I tend to agree on this, we can easily do all of the integrations anyway and on top of that provide extra value with APIs that offer more value thanks to our own agents
